Post tan maintenance
So, you've completely pampered yourself, exfoliated and achieved your golden look with fake tan, but now it's time to maintain it and embrace it.
So, after you've gone through all of that effort to achieve your new look, maintaining it is a must. Liberally applying moisturiser everyday will keep your skin nice and hydrated with a silky smooth touch. This will stop the skin from drying and making the fake tan go streaky and blotchy. If you've opted for a developing spray tan, lotion tan or tanning mousse then make sure you do not apply moisturiser until after you've showered off the excess sunless tan.
You can buy specially formulated body wash that is mild on the skin and doesn't remove your tanning efforts in the bath or shower. This can be a good investment for people wanting to prolong their tan for as long as possible. Let's face it, no-one wants to go through all of that effort to have a pesky shower cream remove the bronze!
One obstacle some of you may face post fake tan is in the application of make-up. No-one wants to achieve tanning success then have their face a good few shades lighter than the rest of their body. Of course, you could go all out and buy a new foundation and bronzer to match your new found tan but there is a cheaper way of getting your face to a nice shade of brown (see below).
Mixing just a touch of instant tan with your regular foundation will give your face that extra bronzed effect to match the rest of your body without you splurging out on a new make-up bag. With your new found tan you can also experiment with your eyes and lips. With darker skin you could try out some darker eyeshadow shades to bring out your eyes or play around with different coloured lipsticks and glosses.
If your new tan is something that you are going to keep, you could also play around with your hair style and make-up for a complete tantastic transformation. Word of warning though, make sure to protect blonde hair as it may just get a new tan.... You never know, a new fake tan could be a new you!
