Your pre-tan regime

Deciding to give yourself a spray tan is in effective a way of giving yourself a good pampering session.

One important thing that most tanners forget is that your skin needs a nice good scrub before you apply any kind of fake tan. Exfoliation is just as important in the tanning process as picking the right shade of bronze. Dead skin cells attract fake tan, creating a blotchy appearance on the skin, and lets face it, no-one wants a fake tan that's streakier than a slice of bacon. To eliminate this problem give your body a nice buff with a scrunchie and exfoliating scrub.

Whilst getting rid of your dead skin cells the exfoliant will also help to remove those pesky ingrown hairs that you find every so often. Of course, you have to de-hair yourself before you apply fake tan and like most things there are a few different ways that you can go about removing those little prickles from your legs. For those of you that like to wax or epilate it is best to do so at least 24 hours before you apply fake tan otherwise your pores will still be open. That doesn't mean that those of you that shave can get away with whacking the razor over five minutes before you apply. You get better results if you shave 24 hours before application.

Okay so your hair-less and have fresh silky-smooth skin, what is next on your to-do-list? Moisturise of course! A good moisturiser will leave your skin feeling soft and silky and will provide a good base for your tan. The best time to get your skin feeling like a baby's bottom is if you apply moisturiser the night before, paying close attention to your knees, elbows and feet as they can get particularly dry.

One thing that many people can forget to protect is their fingernails and toenails and the best way to do so is by giving yourself a good old mani/pedi-cure beforehand. Yes that's right, the best way to protect your nails from the fake tanning process is with a couple of coats of nail polish.

If you feel that you are a competent and enthusiastic individual and have a keen interest in tanning then why not become a tanning therapist! You will have to undergo spray tan training and learn about the best ways in which to fake tan a client. Not only will you be doing something which you enjoy, you can also earn money either from mobile visits or offering it at the salon you work at to better the business!
